White House Gate Crasher Faces DUI, Other Charges In DC: Secret Service

One person was taken into custody by Secret Service agents after striking a security gate near the White House, a spokesperson for the agency said.

The morning commute was slightly impacted in DC on Tuesday, May 16, when an allegedly drunk driver struck a gate at approximately 4:30 a.m.  near 15th Street and E Street.

Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Gugliemi said that the man who crashed was treated the scene by paramedics and will now face charges for DUI and unlawful entry.

No injuries were reported, and the action is not believed to have been targeting the White House. 

There was an increased police presence in the area as Secret Service officers investigated the incident.

More information is expected to be released later on Tuesday morning.
